Design Engineer – Temporary Works

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Temporary Works Design Engineer for a very establish company based in Eaton Socon, St Neots.
Our client design, license manufacture and distribute specialist scaffold, access, weather protection, event and safety equipment. It trades in over 100 countries, and are leading designers, manufacturers and suppliers of mechanical and non-mechanical construction equipment and have a worldwide reputation for innovation, quality and service, with a group turnover of €3.5B. They are now entering a period of rapid growth and need ambitious, self-motivated and talented staff to enable its various products and services to be developed, distributed and supported globally.
Based from our offices in Eaton Socon, the successful candidate will be a part of a small team and will support in-house engineering, marketing and sales functions, supporting existing customers and the group companies both in the UK and overseas. In addition to supporting its own products in the field, they operate a contract design service undertaking temporary works designs for temporary works contractors, constructions companies, main contractors, specialist event, concert, seating and stage companies.
They are a sound company offering a long term permanent position and an opportunity to get involved in detailed product design, project design, business development and technical support in a technical sales environment. Their offer is not subject to any particular current project but is part of a long term growth strategy. As part of a major international group the client base is diverse and service customers across the UK and Europe, so the successful candidate will have the opportunity to get involved at various levels in all current projects.
Ideal candidates will be qualified to First degree level and possess a relevant structural engineering qualification and membership to a professional organisation (ideally Chartered Engineer but other professional memberships considered). Candidates without these qualifications who have exceptional experience will also be considered. Candidates will have a structural engineering background gained in the construction/scaffolding/temporary works sectors, be familiar with steel and/or aluminium design and have first-hand experience of using BS/ EN/ International standards.
Candidates should be computer literate with knowledge/experience of Microsoft office, Autocad, frame analyses packages, TEKLA etc and have a willingness to work with and manage a small team of technicians. It is essential that you are able to work from written and verbal instructions and undertake work independently if required.
