Our Founders

The two founders of James Newbury Appointments, Penny and Caroline, have worked together in recruitment since 1998, working for leading global recruitment agencies, where they developed a passion for the art of Recruitment Done Well.

Although recruitment has changed a lot since then (remember in 1998, emails were just being introduced), Penny and Caroline managed the top recruitment desk in the UK and managed the top office for 10 consecutive years (out of 227 offices – not a bad achievement!)

Having developed their careers in different ways, Penny and Caroline got back together in 2015 when they wanted to make a difference to the way people recruit having realised that there was a need for a localised and personalised recruitment agency. Their vision was to develop a recruitment agency with a focus on great customer care and service – so with a sturdy kitchen table, 2 phones and 2 laptops, James Newbury Appointments was born. ‘James’, as a tribute to the father of one of the founders and ‘Newbury’ being the name of the house JNA was founded and came to life!

If I temp do I get holiday pay?

Yes – for every hour you work you will accrue holiday pay as required by law.

Do you offer training?

We are very fortunate to be associated to ACET, a B2B training company that offers great courses for employers looking to invest and develop their staff.

Do you offer CV writing services?

We will offer guidance and support as well as putting you in touch with professional CV writers if you really need it.

What are your opening times?

Monday – Friday from 8am – 6pm but we are flexible if needs to be.

Do I have to come to your offices to register?

No, we will come to a convenient place near you as we understand and appreciate that time is precious and you can’t get to us so readily with work commitments and short lunch breaks.

Do I have to see you before you help me find a job?

Yes. We like to ensure we get to know and understand all of our candidates and employers so we can really ascertain a better match – it really does work.

Do you offer a pension?

By law, we are required to offer the auto-enrolment pension

How old do I need to be to register with you?

As long as you are legally old enough to work and past educational age then please get in touch and we will advise you.

Do I need a CV to register with you?

Yes as we use this to help present you to suitable employers. If you need help putting it together, please refer to the article of CV writing on our website as it really does help.
